Our confirmation program studies Luther’s Small Catechism to prepare and help 7th and 8th grade students better understand the 10 Commandments, the Apostle’s Creed, the Lord’s Prayer, the Sacrament of Holy Baptism, Confession and Absolution, and the Sacrament of the Altar (Holy Communion) and how God wants us to live as men and women in Christ. This course of study is to continue education as preparation to publicly ‘confirm’ their baptisms and further prepare for a Christian life as a communicant member of the church and, just as important, continue to grow their relationship with God. Each year we also have an all-circuit overnight retreat just for confirmation students at a different church within the Kettle River circuit. Confirmation is usually 2 years in length.
We also offer adult Confirmation classes on request and the length of these classes is based on that person’s current knowledge and understanding of the same 6 chief parts of Luther’s Small Catechism and what a Christian life should look like as the younger students.
